Next morning I was X-rayed, and in the afternoon a piece of shrapnel was removed from my right thigh. I stayed at this hospital for a week, and then I was transferred to âThe Dublinâ 83rd General Hospital for special treatment to the jaw.
After three days at this hospital they operated on my jaw, and also removed a piece of shrapnel from the left frontal area of my head. By this time, pieces of shrapnel which hit me in the left shoulder and back had worked to the surface and were picked out by one of the sisters.
